A big gripe I have with BYU's defense is that it ignores how much a dominant

stifling defense creates momentum for our team and makes it impossible for our opponent to build their own momentum.

Big offensive plays are fun and exciting, but if we want to see a stadium get really loud, and teams get on a roll, it often starts with a defensive scheme that absolutely takes the opponent's offense out of the game. Stifling defenses intimidate teams, and quiet opposing crowds. This will always be a tall order for a bend but don't break defense.

However, even physical, stifling defenses will always have a tough time overcoming 4 turnovers (6, if you include the 4th downs).
