Since the beginning of the college football playoff, 4 teams have accounted for 71% of all playoff appearances
Those of course being Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. Just 4 teams out of 129 accounting for over 2/3 of all appearances. On top of that, Alabama and Clemson by themselves account for 64% of all national championship appearances and 71% of national championships. No other sport, college or professional, has this level of disparity between the top teams and everyone else. The playoff format needs to change.
