I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here.
Saying that Utah "earned" the Rose Bowl by being PAC12 champions doesn't seem like much of a burn.
I mean - would your rather people think you got picked for a game because people like you even though you've not had the best season and there are other teams that are more deserving? Or that people know you are in the game because you were the best team in the conference?
Seems like either way, going to the Rose Bowl is really hard to talk smack about - unless they thought they were going to the playoffs and got left out.
*Obviously this is all premature - there's still a game next week that has to be played.
