Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix has an option to take BYU
If the Big 12 or B1G can’t fill all their spots. The B1G has 10 Bowl tie ins but only 9 eligible teams. Since Ohio State likely will go to the Rose Bowl and Michigan to the Playoff, that leaves 9 spots with only 7 teams to fill. The GRB has the 7th pick but I am sure it could send a team to the Duke Mayo or Red Box Bowl instead to open up a spot in the GRB bowl.
If the above doesn’t happen then we might get the Big 12s slot if it gets 3 teams in the NY6.
Most likely outcome is GRB in Phoenix against TT, K-State, or WV.
