pretty good job of paying homage to "A Christmas Story" in a slightly updated manner without just completely regurgitating the story.

I would give it a solid B. A lot of the jokes were a little flat, but I thought they really pulled off the heart-warming ending in an unexpected way that really hit home emotionally. Not exactly an instant Christmas classic, but one of the best Christmas movies released in the last 5-10 years.
