It reminds me of when I had been working for six months. A big firm from out of
state moved in and announced starting associate salaries much higher than what was the going rate. Firms all around town panicked and raised associate salaries. I got a 40% raise after just six months on the job.
The funny thing is the out of state firm only hired a couple of associates for the first year and a half. Not enough to raise the market if the other firms hadn’t panicked.
