US Speedskater Brittany Bowe relinquished her spot in the 500m in Beijing so her
teammate Erin Jackson could go. Jackson is the top-ranked 500m skater in the world but slipped during the US Trials and came in 3rd, failing to qualify.
Bowe will still go to Beijing to compete in the 1000m and 1500m, plus team events. Bowe is the current world record holder in the 1000m.
