It was a connection from Lima to Cusco. They wanted us to keep checking every hour for substitute flights until there was one available. I just wanted to book one to be sure we had one, but they told me that we had to do the standby thing otherwise they would cancel the rest of our itinerary which included flights to puno from Cusco and flights back to Lima and back to the US
