The labor and supply chain shortages just became very real for us. Our greenhouse business kicks into full gear next
week. We will receive around 30,000 flower plants next week to start planting our hanging baskets for the upcoming season. We have always used hanging baskets made out of pulp (we think they look better than plastic hanging baskets and they seem to help retain water better). We placed our order for these baskets at the beginning of September to be shipped to us January 13th. They were not delivered on that date so we contacted our sales representative to figure out what was going on. He just informed us that due to labor shortages, the supplier of these pulp baskets is way behind on production and would not commit to any type of delivery date for our order. So not only will we not have these pulp baskets to begin planting next week but we do not have any idea of when we will ever get them. I wish someone had informed us earlier so that we could start making other plans. We really don't know what we are going to do, we are scrambling big time right now.

Our sales representative also informed us that the major greenhouse plastic suppliers are telling people to place their orders now for next year because if we wait any longer they cannot promise delivery of their products before the growing season. So we need to forecast 2023's sales now and place our order. Ugh!
