Make the most money. They make insane amounts of money (like NBA star type money) and will never take less. We just lost one of our best product guys (not a partner, but a senior guy who is invaluable to all of us on the client-facing side) because he left to make 25% more at a rival firm. We just had a record year and easily could have paid him up, but of course that would entail our partners taking 2% less and spreading that out. If they took 2% less, our marketing, operations, people etc., would be top class.
As is, we have great investment products that our clients like but incredibly mediocre marketing pieces and we continue to lose awesome people who sell and support those products. We could be incredible if the partners were only **slightly** less greedy and shortsighted.
So frustrating.
