You don't get it either. CFP was created by and for the elite blue blood programs. Just like the old BCS
they create barriers to entry to make it difficult for lower tier schools to compete or challenge the supremacy.
The BCS initially excluded "non-BCS" programs from even having a chance with lofty requirements to make their prestigious 3 BCS Bowl pantheon.
Only one school broke that barrier before they added the 4th bowl. The same school was the first to return to a BCS Bowl and to dominate a powerhouse program.
Now that schools is playing at the top of their P5 conference.
Utah is elevating its status one step at a time. Breaking barriers that no other lower tier program is doing.
I don't see the mockery in that. Most real fans tend to root for the overachiever.
