My mother went to the U. I like her fine. I have a number of friends--come on, we all do--who went to the U, and there are even a couple that know something, a little bit anyway, about Utah athletics, and still root for them. And I still like those people. In the micro, I don't hesitate to say that most of the people who attended or attend the U are children of God and thus deserving of respect, even if AFFECTION seems a pretty large ask.

However, the U, as an institution, is a maelstrom of evil and must perish in blood and fire, amen. Their athletic programs are mockworthy at best and laughably pathetic in practice. If they were to cease, bodily, to exist from this moment, I can't think of anything in my life that would not become substantially better. The Big XII? Nothing that contains the University of Utah can possibly be the BIG anything, unless it's the Big Turd on the Hill. We should not invite them. We should bend all the powers of a merciful heaven to prevent them from landing in ANY viable conference.

Personally, I don't have any trouble separating the personal and the institutional.
