We all know the PAC12 has issues with BYU on religious/political grounds. And BYU (from the PAC12 perspective) wouldn't be a huge add because they're not already in the club and don't bring a big market. So I could see the argument that the PAC12 wouldn't want us in, even if I disagree.
But the UCF exclusion doesn't make sense. It's a big market, nice recruiting ground, not redundant with any other teams, no philosophical disagreements. I mean, it's far away, but so is Cincy.
I could see the PAC12 making
- no requests on keeping any of the new 4 out
- a request to JUST keep BYU out
- a request to keep ALL 4 of the new teams out
But the BYU/UCF combo doesn't pass the sniff test to me
