It's pretty dire when you look at it like that

Network Slots Available Slots Taken Slots Remaining
CBS 1 1 (B1G) 0
NBC 1-2 1-2 (B1G + Notre Dame) 0
FOX 3 2 (B1G) 1
FS1 (Sat) 3-4 2 (B1G) 1-2 (including potential late game)
ABC 3 2 (SEC) 1
ESPN (Sat) 4 3 (2 SEC, 1 ACC) 1 (late game)
ESPN (Thurs) 1 1 (ACC) 0
ESPN2 (Sat) 4 3 (2 SEC, 1 ACC); 1 (late game)
ESPN2 (Fri) 1 0 (late game)

That has the following conference breakdown

  • B1G with 1 game on CBS, 1 on NBC, 2 on FOX, and 2 on FS1 - leaving 2 for the BTN and two for Peacock
  • SEC with 2 on ABC, 2 on ESPN (Saturday) and 2 on ESPN2 (Saturday) - leaving 2 for the SECN
  • ACC with 1 on ESPN (Sat), one on ESPN (Thurs) and one on ESPN2 (Sat).  Giving another 2 weekly for the ACCN still leaves them with 2 more games to show though, so this is an undercount.  Take at least one from the remaining ABC/ESPN (TBD where it comes from)

Given that ESPN and FOX will almost certainly not join together bidding on a conference, that leaves 3 games on ESPN properties (including up to 3 late games).  Those late games makes for a natural fit with the PAC to fill ESPN Saturday night, ESPN2 Saturday night and ESPN2 Friday night, with another 2 games each week left for the PAC12 Network (or streaming services if the network ceases to exist).  No great slots, but leaning into the "after dark" moniker

And that leaves the Big 12 looking to have 1 game/week on Fox and 2 on FS1 (including the late night game, which is where we will most often be).  Unlike other conferences, the Big 12 doesn't have a network to put the extra games on, so that leaves a likely second- or third-tier agreement for streaming (similar to what the Big 12 currently has with ESPN+)
