RE: “They injured Taysom?”
Yes, USU injured Taysom and all of the other quarterbacks mentioned. The coaches were not on the field. Sure, injury is a part of the game, but we don't typically lose our starting quarterback almost every game. The rate of injury to our quarterbacks has been ridiculously high against USU the past decade, and that combined with their comments and actions this week give reason to believe that that trend would continue if we kept playing them. Why should we continue to play them if we have nothing to gain from that game, and BYU doesn't seem to care much about that game (the energy at LES last night was even lower than for the Wyoming game, which was already quite low other than being mad at the refs).

While one of the Taysom injuries caused angst toward coaches (including from me) for even letting him be on the field and run the ball in that situation, that didn't "cause" his injury. With that logic, any future injuries in games against Utah State would be Tom Holmoe's fault if he scheduled them, because the situation could have been avoided. There is nothing to gain from playing USU (just like there's nothing to gain from a run with time running out), so why put ourselves in a situation that has shown repeatedly in the past to lead to injury, especially when the other team is proud of that?
