I'm just arguing that in terms of on field performance it has been much closer the last 5-10 years then it was before that. For some reason BYU fans like to talk about the LaVell years like they are still relevant. He was a great coach that led a lot of great teams...enough to have the stadium named after him. He also did that at a time that Utah State was stuck in mediocre conferences or independent and won 1-3 games a year. Sure BYU was better all of those years...but pretty much everyone was better than Utah State those years. That doesn't prove anything about recent results. Prior to LaVell coming to Provo Utah State was the better team.
