Jerry Remy and Dennis Eckersley were basically residents in my home for the last...oh, I don't know...15+ years or whenever i was able to afford major league pass. If you're not a sox fan, they were the color commentators for the Red Sox and each brought their own distinctive style and charisma to the game. Remy died of cancer a year ago. That still hurts. Eck retired tonight.
I didn't always "watch" the games, but they have been on in the background of my life for a lot of hours. Thousands, in fact. I know that the dodgers loved Vin Scully, and rightfully so. He was a legend. While Remdog and Eck aren't close to that level, and I never listened on the radio, I'll sure miss the games they did, and I'll miss their Sox flavored glasses and their take on all things baseball.
Baseball, man. I love it. Long live Rem and Eck!
