The original made $200m in China and the Chinese market has grown like crazy since then. They literally re-released Avatar in China last year and it made $58m. Seriously, 11 years later and it made over a 1/4th of the original run.

Although nothing comes out in China anymore and I guess it’s still not even certain Avatar 2 will. Who knows.

I realize none of this has anything to do with it being a good movie or sequel or anything. Life is pointless and then you die.
