CB gets frustrated when we are giving scholarships to kids with no other D1 offers. Same thing should apply to coaches. Cahoon, Detmer, Empey, Doman, Mahe all skipped the line to coach college football at BYU with no college coaching experience outside of BYU. When they got fired either they were unwilling to grind it out at lower level college programs to restart their careers or no one wanted them. Either way it shows they weren’t the right people for the jobs. Didn’t show they were willing to grind it out for success.

Coaching is a competitive grind where your competitors are putting in massive amount of time and energy to recruit, find a schematic edge and develop players. BYU needs grinders who are going to outwork the competition. No coach BYU hires is going to be so brilliant they can put in 50 hours a week and win consistently when opposing coaches are putting in 80 plus.
