Because if this game holds up, Washington should be furious. First, the old division structure would put Washington in. Second, Washington did beat Oregon, who beat Utah who beat…USC but that doesn’t matter. 🙂
The tie breaker scenario for three teams on the PAC-12 (and B1G for that matter) state that you cannot do a “record against tied teams” because Utah and Washington didnt play each other. Thus, you have to throw that scenario out and go down the list.
The next tiebreaker is common opponents. All three are equal.
The third tiebreaker scenario is record against the 1 seed. This actually hurts Utah because Oregon AND Washington didn’t play USC. (Blessings to SC)
The fourth is where Utah wins. Strength of conference schedule. The scenario that hurt Utah in option three helps here.
Again, I don’t agree with it. I told my son we’re not going to Vegas. We went last year and to the RB. SC rolls and goes to the playoff, and Washington goes to the Rose Bowl.
