Big respect to Lauren Gustin for sticking with the Cougs this year.
I know some of you get triggered when BYU women's basketball is discussed on the board, but I was just thinking about how awesome it was that Lauren Gustin chose to stick it out at BYU rather than transfer somewhere else.

When Shaylee Gonzales left, it became apparent that BYU was headed for a major rebuild with a new coach. I was certain at that time Lauren would follow suit and transfer to another school--possibly to a school that was well-positioned to make a tourney run. Heaven knows she would have been a big asset wherever she went.

Surprisingly, she instead chose to stay at BYU for her senior season and fill a leadership role in a turbulent transition year. Yes, for sure, there are other considerations (family, for example), but I admire her loyalty and her commitment to her team. I'm sure Lauren's voice in the locker room is valuable as a new coach gets her feet wet.

It may very well be that Lauren leaves next year as a graduate transfer, but that doesn't take away the fact that she stuck around this year. Kudos to her.
