But in this case, it's perhaps helpful to remember that many of those who opt for the portal will be those that are dissatisfied with their playing time, the coaches, or their fit within the scheme--it is rare for a starter to bail. To the extent that this is true, it's like a fair market trade--both parties benefit from the exchange. If they can find a better fit and more playing time, good for them (as long as they're not playing us). And we get an open roster spot that we can fill with either a transfer or a developing talent that better fits our scheme and merits more playing time.
