The defense was trash for the last half of 2021 but instead of aggressively looking for answers and hitting the portal hard, BYU was high-fiving itself for going 5-0 against the worst Pac season maybe ever. This season’s eventual results were super obvious after the Oregon blowout loss and mediocre showing vs Utah State. The offense was inconsistent and stunk on 4th downs but the defense still performed a few levels below that. The last 3 quarters of the Liberty game were the bottom of the barrel. It’s going to take recruiting a few years to get going and that’s only if Jay Hill ends up being a really good coach.
