so every time they came to town he could get front-row seats for the shows with all the big names (Undertaker, Big Show, Triple H, etc.). The tickets were free, so when he invited me, I always went.
Although I am not sure I would have paid to go, it was still incredibly fun.
The entire production is about wrapping you up in the contrived drama and over-the-top spectacle of the thing. And they do a great job. Up close, it's even more fake, and clearly, they don't land their punches.
However, one thing my buddy pointed out after watching somebody come flying off the top rope and hitting the mat was, "You can't fake gravity." So while most of the strikes, etc. are fake, the punches are pulled, and they are careful how they land on people, it doesn't change that these are still huge dudes flying around running into each other.
