Reality is nice, here's some. MJ didn't take TWO years off. He played in 94-95
Played at the end of the regular season(17 games) and in the playoffs(out in second round, despite MJ playing really well).

Also, MJ was indeed a couple months older, but interestingly LeBron has actually upped his game since turning 38. And if LeBron quit because he didn't want to play for a new coach you'd likely lambast him for being a petulant baby.
