I really, really wanted this exact model, but there were still several ahead of me on the waitlist. With rumors of premium features being cut, people have been dropping off the waitlist. I was 2nd in line, and definitely wanted to be first (that's Alpha Ragnar for you). I spoke with the dealer, and he said the feature cancellations were just a rumor to slow the demand and take pressure off production while they ramp up.

I offered the dealer $40K to put me ahead of the #1 spot guy. He laughed and said he would do it for free. I guess this guy calls up twice a day to get status, going through the denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance phase. Every time. And it often ends in mild sobbing. He also creeps out the receptionist by ending the calls with a whispered "you have a nice voice".

The dealer also added that he often shows up at the dealership in an older Scion, chatting with the customers or playing the free video games. The dealer said they had to ask him to leave once because a customer badmouthed his favorite author, Harry Potter. Another time he was playing a video game against another adult customer, and they both were asked to leave because they fought over the videogame storyline and it ended with him getting pegged by a nearby autographed display baseball bat.

It's driving the dealer mad. But, I guess the rules are that he can't just drop him.

So, the dealer sent him an email a couple days ago claiming (falsely) that the cut of luxury items are true. This didn't go too well. The guy (Jason?) screamed "cancel my order!!!" and hung up. So, I'm now first in line!

BTW, the dealer told me he has since called back several times begging to be put back on the list.
