That's pretty normal, TBH. I usually don't have to anesthetize the tooth to adjust occlusion because it's only removing
filling material, not tooth. That being said, did you make any indication you were in pain? I'm sure any good dentist would be happy to anesthetize you if you wanted. We love giving people shots.
