My engine seized about a year and a half ago on my 2013 Sonata. Went through the same process you are now. Hyundai was
great to work with on it. I missed your post or else I would have given you a heads up.
The few weeks leading up to it seizing, I noticed my Sonata doing what your Elantra was doing but I didn't do anything about it until the engine was fully gone.
