I just got a full remote job two weeks ago with a tech company back east making about 20% more than what I was being offered in Utah, with way better benefits and PTO. Just over 3 years experience in software development, nowhere near senior. Way fewer opportunities in Utah as well, almost all the traction I got with recruiters, interviews, etc were for out-of-state positions.
We're set to move away from Provo after my wife graduates in April, likely to Orlando. A lot of Utahns will say that housing has gotten bad everywhere, but when I can easily find a 4 bedroom, 2k sq foot home in Orlando for ~$350k, to me that indicates more of a Utah problem. I guess it's more of a western US problem as everything out here has gotten ridiculous, but there is affordable housing all over the Midwest and South. It's gotten less affordable in those places too, just like it has everywhere, but not to anywhere near the same extent.
