be if your flight arrives fairly early in the morning, you go through immigration & customs and spend the day sightseeing in the country, then fly out at night — so you essentially spent a full day doing stuff there, without spending the night there. But this is a fairly uncommon situation. I've done it a few times, but never in a country that I had never visited otherwise.
