Matt Norlander had some interesting tidbits on Kevin Young on his BYU SportsNation interview today:
* Norlander noted that he was just a little bit behind Woj in firing off the official Kevin Young hire news last week. Said they texted and had a laugh about it.
* Noted that Kevin Young is AT BYU today, on campus and trying to finalize assistants most likely and also meeting with players, etc. So, he is in town and working.
* Noted that he is aware that Kevin Young has been in regular contact with both Dallin Hall and Richie Saunders since his hire - trying to make his case for them to stick with BYU.
* Noted that Kevin Young dealt with heavy roster turnover in the G-league coaching stints, sometimes coaching up to 60 players in one season - he knows how to deal with roster chaos and roster construction. Will take his time to get things right for next season and future seasons.
* Noted that he is in the process with getting basketball assistant coaches approved - is certain that Brandon Dunson of Stanford will be announced this week; also expects 1-2 potential NBA folks to come, and potentially one prominent name but that it's not a done deal at all.
So, a little more clarity on a couple of items, but just like everyone else notes that it's a process that will play out over the weeks ahead.
There is a major background story on Kevin Young likely to drop in the next 24 hours. Will keep an eye out for it.
