My brother is a huge basketball fan. He also was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago.

The day before his surgery, I had the idea of reaching out to Coach Pope to see if he’d record a message for my brother.

Even though I was really late with coming up with this idea and laid it at Pope’s feet at the last minute, he came through with a very nice video message for my brother.

There was no publicity with this — he just took a few minutes out of his very busy schedule and did something selfless for some people he didn’t know at all.
