My Father, George Stewart, former Mayor of Provo, passed away this week, many of you may know him so I
wanted to post about his viewing tonight at 6-8 tonight at Berg Mortuary in Provo and his funeral tomorrow at 11.

Details of times and locations can be found here: https://georgeostewart.blogspot.com

He was known to most in the area as a Mayor and city councilor of Provo. But to those nearest, he was known as a man who could encompass power, passion, and kindness all at once. A father of 11 who lost his own father months before serving a mission, he was beloved by all who knew him, whether as a Mission President, a Bishop, a business executive/owner, a brother/father/cousin/son/uncle/father/grandfather, neighbor or friend.

He was a man whose only hobbies were family, church, and BYU/Jazz games.

He lived to serve and when he could no longer do that he shuffled off this mortal coil rather quickly so he could do so on the next plane.

I remember going to Jazz games immediately after they moved to Utah as he would take his kids up to SLC to permanently move our loyalties from our previous BlazerMania addiction from our time in Portland.

But our hearts were really with BYU, which he had raided regularly for employees when he was an executive for ADP (mostly looking for good basketball players that would move into our ward- he always stacked the EQ Bball team he coached.)

From Wilson to Wilson we followed the exploits of BYU Football teams, including the highlight of taking the whole family down to San Diego State for the Miracle Bowl. Many of our memories with him are centered on BYU and it will always be deeply intertwined into our hearts because of that.

Rise and Shout for a Son of God has risen to serve with the other greats of man!
