I know many of you feel the same
College sports has changed so much, I’m trying to decide how emotionally (and otherwise) invested I’m going to be going forward.

What I mean is this. The games are awesome, wonderful and epic, and I’ll always support and root for my Cougs.

But it used to (partially) be full of “BYU guys” who wanted to be there for personal reasons.

But anymore it’s totally ridiculous to get excited about any player announcing declaring he’ll play because the odds are he’ll not stay the full length of his eligibility- or- he’ll go on the open market every single year to see if he can “renegotiate” his value by threatening to leave.

And you can’t blame the players for wanting to get theirs.

And you can’t blame the universities who profited off these players for decades - they were playing by the rules.

Programs built on the notion of continuity with any players or coaches is history. It’s all in the here and now. There is no tomorrow with any team anymore. And that’s where it’s hard for me to get invested. Hard to care about players who will probably be gone soon. It ain’t like it used to be.
