of living right now is hopelessness. People feel stuck. Stuck in their current house, stuck in their current career, stuck in their circumstances. There simply isn’t enough financial wiggle room to make a change.
Budgets are so tight and the cost to change your house, move to another state, buy a new car, go back to school, or make a big career move is pretty scary with the cost of life right now.
I know, somebody out there has made it in this economy with grit and stickwithitness, and that’s great. But it doesn’t change how people are feeling whether real or perceived. And talking to my ward members and colleagues, especially the under 40 crowd, people feel like they don’t have any opportunities for upward mobility or even change. And that lack of economic morale is worrisome.
