Problem is that you will never know that BYU turned down the Big12. BYU will spin it and say that they were never offerred and the Big12 will go along with it because it looks bad for a conference to invite a team then be turned down. You assume that BYU thinks joining the Big12 is a better offer then staying independent and that if they ever were offerred they would jump at it. I'm not so sure this is the case anymore. I think BYU has been sitting at the gambling table more then we would like to think. Problem is that gambling doesn't get you anywhere because you lose more often then you win.
