If you are talking undergrad BYU is one of the best in the country.
But the "elites" are to snobbish to consider undergrad programs. BYU does not have a ton of grad programs. Not that it would really matter, that is just an excuse. BYU could be the top research school in the nation, Have its own hospital and medical school and regularly beat out Stanford and Harvard for the top academics in the country and still not even be close to the a PAC invite. The bigots will do their best to never allow that. However - since the expansion it only takes 9 presidents to approve a new member. According to Val Hale BYU would already have been in the PAC 20 years ago under that scenario. Cal can not block us alone anymore.
