It seemed like UCONN dropped 8 almost every play. I guess they mixed it up more than I remember. This makes me feel a little better going forward, and especially against Texas. Texas' D should be twice as good as UCONNs, so this will definitely give us a better feel for how Taysom and Co have progressed from last year. UCONN certainly didn't look like anything special last Friday, so too early to give much of a judgment on progress.
I think we will struggle to run between the tackles against Texas and I also worry how well the front 7 will do against Texas' run game. They have a couple very good running backs and our D-line seemed to struggle at times getting much of a push against UCONNs D-line. I understand that our YPC looked decent, but between the tackles we only had a few good runs, all by our power backs. A lot of the run yardage seemed to come off those option backward pass plays (those seemed very effective). It is not like the O-line was opening up many holes for the run game (One reason Hine struggled, because he is not a powerback at all and the holes weren't very great). I do think that we will do a decent job in pass protection. We looked very good against UCONN in that regard.
