It had a ceiling. Against inferior competition, it was a terror. But against the better teams, it didn't just struggle, it was exposed.
Like I said, you're telling the other team that you're simply better than they are. Byu doesn't have that type of player or athlete all the way around. All a defense needs against that type of byu offense is lock up the wr's in man, then zone everyone else. Even if the run game is effective (and that's a rarity for byu against better teams) and they move a 8-9 man to the box, you still have the issue with our wr's being able to get separation. So they'll dare us to throw, but the likelihood of us being effective is not great. History backs me.
