I know CB loves to throw out the whole "5th place in their division" smack. Of course this ignores that Utah, as well as the four teams in front of Utah, all finished in the top 25 in the final poll. Utah had road wins against #10 UCLA, #23 Stanford, and unranked Michigan. Utah also won at home against #20 USC. For some perspective, think about how often BYU has beaten three teams that finished ranked in the top 25 in the same season. Utah's losses were "respectable" to #2 Oregon, #17 ASU (on the road in overtime), #24 Arizona, and unranked WSU. Utah crushed two of the top three MWC teams by an average score of 52-18. It has clearly taken a step forward from its MWC days.
