Scope is only implied if it was previously set up or referenced in the
preceding statement. In this case JOPE posted about sending Arrieta the rubber from Dodger Stadium. He made no statement about who the best pitcher in baseball is, and he definitely didn't establish a scope.

That said, even if he had set up a scope and you were attempting to reflect it, your use of the absolute "the best" would've overridden any scope he put in place. When using absolutes it's important to explicitly state the scope as a means of counteracting the weight of the absolute.

You originated the discussion of who the best pitcher in baseball is, and you did so without attaching a scope. You may now think it was implied, but the language suggests that use of absolutes without explicit or inherited scope imply universality.

Either way, it's all good. You whiffed on this one. Virtually everyone in this thread has acknowledged that you whiffed in this thread. Your continued attempts to prove that the scope was implied only brings more people to the other side of the table. Time to just move on, hit the hay, and give it another rip tomorrow in a new thread.
