Getting to go to the Cotton Bowl was almost as fortuitous as winning the NC. The Cotton Bowl was desperate because of the break up of the SWC and the creation of the BCS. They agreed to take the WAC champ and getting BYU was their best case scenario that year. The relationship didn't last long.

Basically if we are undefeated or have one loss we have a chance at a big bowl, other than that it is just like it always has been.
