DID have a contract with the WAC. I was just agreeing with you - my bad. I did find some information that the WAC had a 2 year contract where the Cotton "could" take the WAC champ - but nothing definitive. They took BYU the first year and a PAC-10 team the next. No surprise, an average CSU team was the WAC champ the next year. It seems likely that BYU is the only team the Cotton Bowl would have taken from the WAC.
