He was only a decent PG until he played for D'Antonio. He was a product of the perfect system for him and put up good numbers for several years. He took advantage of key injuries (Duncan and Shaq), a general NBA talent void (Lebron and Wade hadn't broken out yet), and a general dislike of Kobe to win the MVP. He's not in the conversation for a top 5 PG of all-time. Maybe borderline top 10.
