You are right. SMC should have dropped at least to #4 after losing to Utah in my opinion. Yes, I know they played a lot of reserves, but their coach said that they put up a side they were convinced would beat Utah, and they got creamed. Do you think if we played our reserves against Utah we would have been beaten as bad as SMC was? I doubt it.

We blanked UVU last night for well over a hundred points playing primarily our reserves. UVU are no slouches when it comes to rugby. True, they play at the D1-AA level, but they demolished Dixie early this year 60-0 and they were playing mainly our reserves on a pitch only a few miles from their own campus. Virtually all our starters were pulled at halftime, yet it made little difference. We scored nine tries before the break and eight after.

SMC should have won or at least put up more of a fight than they did against Utah. For that alone, they should have dropped in #4 in all the polls IMO.

Well, SMC plays Cal at Cal this weekend, so that should settle their respective rankings.
