It had significant consequences, when it was definitively proved that Hatfield
wasn't the perp he was reinstated, but he was completely off the team for a long time and missed at least a game as a result even though it turned out that the charges were against someone else.
Hatfield deserved some punishment because he had apparently picked up phones that were left at a party, and he was very punished for doing so. Furthermore, that punishment definitely helped him; he's taken up a lot of responsibility and is thriving as a team leader.
