I wonder if the front-loaded schedule where he played about the same as he has against good teams in the past psyched him out and caused him to completely lose his confidence.

IOW, (As I have been saying for a couple years now), maybe he wasn't all that good to begin with, and at this point the problem is as much mental as it is his lack of general talent.
