make every school hire an auditor of some kind (they have all the money they need) to show total cost of attendance, and track the salaries of each graduating or non-graduating student. Make those figures show which fields are financially worth it and which fields are not.
Schools do all their own statistics today and in many cases they have been found to be misleading, very selective or outright dishonest. There's that, and a creative writing or a 5th year archeology student needs to understand that there isn't any money waiting for them on the other side BEFORE they join a new program. I don't think college students today get an accurate picture of what they're getting themselves into since we've been indoctrinated with "GO TO COLLEGE" since we were little and with so many graduating with 6 figures of debt, and in many cases without a degree or without a usable degree, we need a better message.
