bowl is already tie to two conferences. (as you state they probably have an option to select someone else).

I remember as a kid watching TV highlights of BYU playing teams in Japan. They forfeited a bowl game to
travel overseas. Be fun if they played overseas. Today the games would be broadcast and BYUTV would
more than likely get the rights.

Not even sure the NCAA has kept the rule in place- just some out of the blue thoughts.
