Holmoe doesn't actually have complete say in who plays at LES
The ADs at the other 120 D1 football schools also have a say in who does--or, more to the point, who doesn't--play in Provo each year. In order to get good teams to play in Provo, Holmoe had to get good teams to agree to play in Provo.

Since going independent, this is how the home schedule has gone: 2011 we were lucky to have 6 home games, 2012 kind of the same, but that schedule actually ended up better than it has seemed at first (in terms of actual difficulty, not so much in perception), 2013 was great, 2014 is a let down, 2015 looks better, and 2016 still has a lot of holes in it.

My hope and expectation is that the home schedule will settle down to be more consistent, so we don't alternate good and bad years, and instead have more consistently good schedules. But things like that take some time. I'm not super excited about the teams coming in this year, but I understand it's a work in progress. Last year showed what is possible. I'm willing to stick with the team while it gets worked out.

And at every single game this year at LES, one of the teams on the field will be the BYU Cougars, and that makes it worth it to go to the games, IMO.
